Age-related macular degeneration, or AMD, affects the macula—the central portion of the retina responsible for detailed vision needed for reading, driving, and recognizing faces. Its prevalence and impact increase considerably with age.
The AREDS and AREDS2 clinical studies established a specific combination of antioxidant vitamins and minerals for individuals at increased risk of AMD progression. In appropriately selected patients, daily AREDS-type supplementation reduced the risk of progression to late AMD by approximately 25% over five years.

Unlike the original AREDS formula, Bio-Eyris is beta-carotene-free and uses lutein and zeaxanthin as its carotenoid components. This is particularly important for current and former smokers because beta-carotene supplementation has been associated with an increased risk of lung cancer in these populations.
AREDS2 supplementation is intended for adults diagnosed with intermediate AMD in one or both eyes or late AMD in one eye, based on the recommendation of an ophthalmologist or qualified healthcare professional. It is not established for preventing AMD in individuals without AMD, slowing early AMD, or restoring vision that has already been lost.
As a dietary supplement, adults take two capsules daily, preferably with a meal, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Do not exceed the suggested use.
Consult your physician or ophthalmologist before use, particularly if you are pregnant or nursing, taking medications—including anticoagulant therapy—or planning a medical procedure.
Review all concurrently used supplements to avoid duplicating high doses of zinc, vitamin E, or other AREDS2 nutrients. Stop use and consult your healthcare professional if an adverse reaction occurs.
Store tightly closed in a dry place at controlled room temperature not exceeding 30°C. Do not use if the product appears to have been tampered with or if the safety seal is broken or missing. Keep out of reach of children.
